This is a huge thank you to Thomas for sharing his gifts so generously
to all of us as coaches as well as to the world at large. I am saddened
by his passing because of the loss to us and to the members of his
family. I am happy that he is at peace in another "place". Here's a
prayer for him- Eternal rest grant to him O Lord and let perpetual light
shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen!
Lovingly,

I want to speak about who Thomas was for me and how he impacted my life. I
first met him in 1989 when he trained me to be a coach and I knew then that
he was someone very special who had a mission in life that would not be
deterred in any way. His passion, commitment and dedication oozed from
every fiber of his being. He shared an office with me in Houston in 1993 as
he was getting Coach U off the ground and we would brainstorm for endless
hours about PF or Attraction sprawled on the floor over a white board with
markers flying! He was my friend, mentor, coach, confidante, and best
source of support then and now. He coached me in 1993 to become a full-time
coach which I resisted heartily<g>! After 4 months as a coach, I knew that
Thomas was right and that he had found my calling for me. Even today I feel
blessed daily that I actually took his advice being the resistant one that
I am.
In July of 1996 I invited him to join me in Puerto Rico and during that
trip he offered to sell me Coach U and I agreed. It was scary at the time
and the best decision both of us ever made. Over the last 7 years we have
had our ups and downs, but our game was always generosity and it kept us
connected at a soul level.
Right now I am in deep shock over the loss the world and all of us feel
over this tragic loss. I would suggest that the best thing we can do to
keep his legacy alive is to coach well, love well, and be generous with
each other. I would also suggest that we not get carried away with his
passing as he would not have wanted the hoopla or anything of the sort.
"T" was a simple man endowed with a brilliance beyond belief and he only
truly wanted you to be the best coach possible so that you could make a
huge contribution to the lives of your clients. Do that and his memory is
served. For me, all I can feel is a deep sense of loss followed by a
burning gratitude for the many contributions he made to me personally and
the community of coaches that I now get to associate with. Today I heard
from LBF (Laura Berman-Fortgang), Cheryl Richardson, Judy Feld, Margaret
Krigbaum, Cynthia Stringer, Jim Vuocolo, and many others in our community
expressing their condolences which deeply touched me. His legacy lives in
Coach U, Corporate Coach U and CoachVille, not to mention the hundreds of
thousands of lives that his teachings have influenced. In closing, thanks
to my friend Thomas, the world is a much better place and we love him for
that.
Love,
Sandy
An African proverb states, "When an old man dies, a library burns down."
While Thomas J. Leonard was no old man, and truly a man playing full-out,
dancing through life, sparking us all with his brilliance, I feel a library
HAS burned down. His life was the "pebble" - thrown with abandon and joy
into the pool of humankind - the result being the creation of what Coaching
is and who a Coach can become.
Thomas was the model; he had charisma and joy that gave the coaching
community so very much on a daily basis. My first memory of him - and what
drew me to being a coach, initially - was seeing the picture of him in New
Age magazine, back in the mid-90's, sitting by his RV (the OLD one) having
the time of his life, being a coach on the road. I only met him once, in
person, during the Millennium tour - we spoke before and after the
presentation in Minneapolis; I remember the handshakes both times full of
such vigor and excitement.
The sparkle in his eye gave me a glimpse into his soul, and it is my firm
belief that he will shine on through the work of coaches worldwide. What an
honor to have known him for such a brief moment in time, and to carry on
what he began.
Oh, T. You will be missed.

Wow - his programs have helped me so much in my growth and his quirky sense
of humour put so many smiles on my face..now I coach others hoping they will
be helped like I have been in the most painful areas of my life...what a
legacy to leave? Like a pebble in the pond the ripples will spread & heal in
a beautiful way.
Thank you Thomas I will miss you.

How passionately Thomas lived, with gusto, brilliance and heart. He was the
vision seeker. He created for all of us a path -- he paved the way.
I got the opportunity to see him in September in Toronto. I am so glad that
I got to see his genius in action as it makes me all the more proud of the
work that he has done. I know the coaching community is going to feel his
loss. But we have all been blessed by the presence and presents that Thomas
Leonard bestowed upon us all.
Thank you, Thomas. May you rest in peace and may god be with you.

A friend put me in touch with another friend who introduced me, just last
year, to Coachville and to Thomas. I'm relatively new to the coaching scene
and I live far away from N. America. I consider myself part of the
'undefined' coaching community - the cyber community - that is far away and
yet so close.
I have dreams, ambitions, delights, hopes, and nervousness about it all. It
was the confidence, person-ability, energy, and sheer enthusiasm of Thomas'
that has kept me invigorated in my pursuits for the last year. Those
messages, questions, and projects from Thomas, relentless as they seemed,
were thoughtful and powerful anchors.
I had envisioned attending many conferences and programs through which I
could meet and get to know Thomas. I can now only imagine what could have
been.
Now I have to trust that his legacy and spirit will carry us all.
You are already tremendously missed Thomas. Thank you for all of your
gifts.

My sincere condolences to those in Thomas' immediate family; his friends;
and his work colleagues. What an awful shock to hear this sad news of such a
vibrant man and leader.
When someone like Thomas dies, it leaves a great void. He has been an
example to us all, and the best way we can honour his work, his memory, and
the man, is to continue the work at the professional level at which Thomas
always directed it.
Vale Thomas Leonard!

People: Loss is the greatest test of our humanity and resilience - we must
allow ourselves to personalize immediate loss and extrapolate to the rest of
those who lose loved ones - perhaps Thomas's death is a call to the
international future - to all the lives that hang in the balance in these
critical times. He would want us to be cognisant of how we can impact,
today, with our voices speaking for love and tolerance - so present in every
word he spoke and recorded - this was indeed a man.

You were one of the key people who inspired me in my early
months of coaching. You coached my coach. You tirelessly created furiously
over the last few years, almost as if you knew your soul was going to leave
soon.
Thomas, please know that you will be missed, and that we can
re-connect together in another place in the future. Maybe we can host
another CoachVille Conference -- together!

And so we say amen to Thomas. So swiftly we pass from one dimension to
the next! I met Thomas during his remarkable Millennium Tour in his big
shrink-wrapped RV on the Calgary, Alberta, Canada stop. I volunteered to
be one of the greeters at that event. I made sure to "greet" Thomas as
he made his way into the room to do his presentation. I remember his
very warm handshake and the way he engaged eye-to-eye and his mild
surprise at being greeted at his own event! That was fun. Some of us
were shocked at the content of the presentation...it wasn't what we were
expecting to hear. Hello, this is Thomas here, someone needed to remind
us. You won't get what you expect-you'll get something bigger, more
challenging, something with more impact. Thomas has always been with us
here in the coaching world. Yes, it became a habit to take that presence
for granted. So safe, knowing Thomas was out there creating new and more
ideas and resources. So safe, knowing that a question posed was a
question well answered. So safe to take that for granted. Time to grow
up again. Time to stretch. Time to be grateful. Time to listen. Time to
hear the heart's voice. Time.
Amen, Thomas, I agree.

To the coaching community and Thomas' family and friends.
It has taken me eight hours since learning of Thomas' death to sit down and
write down my thoughts. I feel we have lost a great guy who definitely was
at the peak of his input and involvement in the coaching industry.
After reading the email of Thomas' sudden death I received an email from a
coach I am currently offering mentoring support to. Her email was one of
excitement as her coaching practice has started to take off and she was on a
high. Straight away I thought how ironic but also how amazing that after
hearing about the death of such a wonderful person in our profession and so
influential at the beginning of the profession we now know as 'Life
Coaching' I am then reminded of the great people who will be continuing on
Thomas' legacy of being great coaches for even greater clients.
In a word I am inspired. I am inspired to continue coaching. I am inspired
to live out my context for 2003 which is 'LOVE'. I love coaching, I love the
people who coach, I love the people who take the challenge of having a
coach, and although I never met Thomas face-to-face I feel some kind of
connection and my love also goes out to him. And more importantly at this
sad time my LOVE goes to his family.
Lest we forget.

As a brand new Coachville member, I didn't get to know you personally,
Thomas, and for that I will forever feel sorrow. I can see by the care with
which you treated your business and your associates that you were a talented
and devoted man. I am in deep sympathy for the great loss that your family
must feel. As time goes on, each family member will learn to live with his
or her grief in his or her on way. Because you were obviously a loving man,
your family will always be able to remember you as you were to find comfort
in difficult times and encouragement in living a fulfilling life. I am
grateful for the legacy you have left behind in the form of Coachville and
will endeavor to carry on that legacy in whatever small way I can.

I was very saddened to hear about Thomas. My experience of the short time
that I have been part of Coachville these last few years has been amazing. I
saw him as quite a visionary and such a creative person. Always creating
opportunities for others to shine and his willingness to give of himself in
such a way was very inspiring. Only God knows our days. And it seemed as
though Thomas lived his to the fullest. He will truly be missed.

I've only been involved in the coaching world for about 6 months. I've

My name is Codruta Ilie and I write from Bucharest, Romania - that's how
far Thomas has touched people in love with coaching. I am sad as here is
morning and this news is deeply moving me into tears. I wish my tears
would help commemorate a great person who changed my life for the better
without even knowing me. On my life planner for this year I had an
objective to write to Thomas and discuss my dream of becoming a coach...
now it's too late even if the email address reads "notes to thomas".
This makes me realize how important is to get close to the meaningful
people in your life without feeling shy or delaying it for even a
minute. Rest in peace Thomas, your legacy lives on!

A loss of monumental proportion to our community. What
comfort can be found may rest in knowing he made such
an incredible impact in his short life. Few people
leave their mark in so bold a way and across so many
boundaries. He seemed remarkably ahead of his time in
his thinking. Now that Coachville has become his
legacy, I trust we'll wisely use it to catch up and
carry forward the cutting edge he led.

My fellow coaches,
I was blessed with the opportunity to meet and work with Thomas at the 2002

incredibly inspiring to all of us that were at the conference, and the
knowledge I gained has grown exponentially since then. Thomas has left a
legacy that will live on in the efforts of coaches around the world, and I
am honored to be a part of that legacy.
We lost him too soon, and it saddens me to know that I will not see him

in remembrance of a warm, loving, passionate man and teacher.

I am so sad. Sad that he is no longer with
us, sad that he will no longer
guide us, sad that he will no longer
inspire me to reach, sad that he won't
complete his work, sad that he will
generate no new ideas.
Then I realize he is with us in the
prolific amount of material he shared,
his vision is still there to guide us, the
way he lived his beliefs will
continue to inspire, his work will be
completed by the many who shared his
vision, and his example will show us how to
allow our new ideas to surface.
But I'm still sad, and I am so sorry for
you who worked so closely with him
and knew him well, and for the rest of us
who only heard or saw him
occasionally yet were profoundly affected
by what he said and did. Thank you
Thomas.
My deepest sympathies,

I am saddened by the lose of Thomas. I am
grateful that I was able to meet him this year in Denver. I appreciate and
acknowledge his vision and ability to bring coaching into a viable lifestyle
and a supportive way to live ones life. I do not think it is a quincidence
that I had just approached three other coaches to meet this week and create
a business that we all can profit from and that would serve our clients and
our community. My guess is that this is just what Thomas was wanting for
all of us. I admire his willingness to give so freely of himself and all he
knew. I will keep him in my thoughts and I go forward with the work that he
began.

Why is that only the good die young?
Why does a hard working visionary,
dedicated to
helping others, coach and friend leave us
so suddenly?
If there is something like universal
justice... why am

circumstance?

In the last few months I just happened upon
the Information posted on the web by Thomas Leonard. What a beautiful gift
to us unknown confused-about-life individuals. I would print it out and go
over and over it and pass it to my family, friends and coworkers who were in
turmoil and /or confusion. It's just so straight from the hip that we all
benefited in our situations from the guidance it provided. His beliefs and
ideas were a bright light on our dark paths. His clarity helped me lose my
anxiety and focus on what is real. I am so sad right now. I regret not
taking the time to thank him for being so generous and considerate. I send
my loving condolences to his beloved family and friends.
